| 044 Hi i´m a German! I was very shocked at i make my TV on untill work and see a report of the towers. At first time i had think this is a new cinema trailer, but than i know thats real. My next mind was,”oh my god”.Than my TV was turned on from PM 4:20 GMT (i think ca.10:00 AM in N.Y.) till ca. PM 11:00 GMT and all Comedys, Musikvideos,Talk shows and movies was stoped on every channels, and on every channels was the samechannel ( n-tv , it´s a german newschannel) came the news, reports and livestreams from the towers, white house and pentagon. Hmmm i cant say more than: Es tut mir leid und mein Beileid all denen in deren mitte ein tiefes unschließbares Loch durch diese aktion sollcher fanatiker gerissen wurde! ( sorry i dont know on Englich ). I think this group, persons or country who has make this must pay with his own life ( war ) but not chemical.- or atomwar while this damaged the whole earth.

I feel any American and particularly any Vet ought to be able to voice his opinion on any subject he feels an interest in. I'm mad about lack of respect for the institution of our government shown by recent inhabitants, I'm mad about the lack of INS enforcement of our immigration laws, I'm mad about Christians having to justify their beliefs to illustrate their ability to be fair in their dealings in our government, I'm mad about the way we're thought of in other countries but I'm damn proud to be an American. As the events of the morning unfolded Mr. Jennings repeatedly questioned and criticized the movements and whereabouts of the President of the United States. In the face of a horrible national tragedy when the American public was feeling vulnerable, terrified, and angered, the last thing needed was for someone in Mr. Jennings position to be suggesting weakness, unconcern, and poor leadership by our country's top official. The fact that Mr. Jennings is not fully versed on the plans in place for the safety of the President during a national crisis is no excuse. Nor is the possibility that Mr. Jennings may harbor some personal disdain for Mr. Bush. Peter Jennings' job is to report the news, not display his own misguided ideas of what should or should not be happening when extraordinary events take place. Had this been almost any other television reporter I would have considered the described behavior not only unprofessional, but also unpatriotic. But since Mr. Jennings is not from The United States we'll have to leave it at the lowest level of unprofessional. I should think that the very LEAST that Mr. Jennings could do would be to OFFICIALLY apologize to the American people and to the President himself. | 055 Hey! Just a little note in your time of grief, i also think that it should be a time for consideration for us all. I don't mean to even consider understating the sorrow and anger your prideful nation must feal at this very moment, but at the same time I can't help but feel pretty disgusted by the way some ameraicans express themselves these days. revenge seems to be the only thought going, without pausing to consider the effects of such actions... First off, have you ever considered why USA is so sought after by international terrorists? Myself is also considered a veteran by having spent 4 tours to Lebannon with the UN force there, and another tour to Bosnia Herzegovina (where I also encountered numerous US soldiers, most of them great guys!). My point is, USA persistently deny UN any possibility of condemming Israel's horrendeous actions against the Palestinian people, having vetoed numerous resolutions supported by the rest of the world, and since USA have a permanent seat in the security counsil, no action can be made. I assure you all, the regular Israelli soldier is one heck of a bastard ( I have been shelled twice, and nearly overrun by soldiers driving a car on a leave in Tel-Aviv!) even though our positions is clearly faced towards Lebannon (mainly we perform checkups and tracking to prevent as much unrest as possible). The Israellians have driven approx 3 milliom peope on the run, and use every possible excuse to shell both administrative buildings and civillian targets. How would you react if Canada (ridiculous, but bear with me!) started shelling whole sections of Seattle if one sniper targeted a Canadian Soldier? Much of the situation in the Middle East relies heavily on US shoulders due to their inability to perceive that you ally is in fact one of the most right-winged, nationalistic nations on the face of this earth, and constantly uses sharp ammunitions to take out stone-throwing youth (mostly), all the time while continuing to send settles into Palestinian turf. A simple look at your own police's efforts, or any European nation's efforts during larger demonstartions or riots clearly suggests that brute force is exaggerating, when water cannons and tear gas would be more than sufficient really. Much of the Arab world's hatred towards USA comes directly from the very fact that US stops UN for putting preassure on Israel! Of course, hatred don't sanction terror or violence, but US should really go into itself and see what allies they actually have (remember, both Iraq and Bin Laden are old allies of US!). You actually fought a war "to preserve democracy" in Kuwait (under 1% of the total population have the right to vote!!!) while turning a blind eye to the terror in the Middle east. Last, hopefully we can manage to arrest and bring to trial the responsible persons for the horrible acts agains US. Nevertheless, regardless of who America's allies are, I believe that the majority of the Arab world abhors what happened on September 11th in New York and in Washington D.C., and I believe that America has finally awakened to the fact that terrorism absolutely must be eradicated from the face of the earth. It took the terrorists themselves to "awaken the sleeping giant", just as it took the Japanese to "awaken the sleeping giant" in World War II. It is a gentle giant for the most part, but when provoked, it is a huge and terrible giant. Remember D-Day. Remember Hiroshima.
