| 176 Here's a feasible safety answer for commercial airlines: In conjunction with strengthening and sealing the cockpit door; retrofit all planes with knock-out gas bottles and ducting with the "master" switch in the cockpit. At the first sign of trouble the pilot hits the release button and it's "Say good night, Gracie" time for everyone in the cabin. The pilot lands at the nearest airport; the authorities board the plane (with masks on) and simply remove the groggy ( if not still out-cold!) perps. Sure there may be some who are harmed or are allergic or perhaps even fatally succumb to the gas. Hasn't the alternative already been demonstrated? Too simple? Too cheap? |

| 192 I want to offer my sympathies to all those poor souls who had to face the horror of terrorism on those planes and in those buildings. My wife and I watched the terrible events unfold as those 2 towers crumbled to the ground. We were no strangers to NY as our daughter was born there some 9 years ago. I can understand how the American feel and wanting to lash out at those that did this terrible crime. I feel however that the Americans really need to take a serious look at themselves as to why someone would want to take their own lives to harm as many Americans as possible. Those terrorists were not some desperate individuals who had nothing to lose. One had his 1st child recently and another graduated from a German University in Engineering. I would say that both had a bright future to look forward too but instead choosed death for something much more powerful. Sometimes one needs to step back to see a clearer picture. 1) The Americans have been supporting the Israel government as it bruntally supresses an occupied people. I can`t understand how the Jewish people can be doing this to the Palestinians when their own fathers had to experience these same things not so many years ago. The Palestinians have been assasinated, bombed, dislocated, humilated, and abused on a daily basis. Their only weapon it seems to have is either rocks or the suicide bomber. A desperate people having to choose desperate measures. 2) The American government supported the takeover of several governments in South America....Chile, where thousands of its citizens were brutally murdered. San Salvador, where the US supported a regime that murdered priests and raped and murdered nuns. Guatamala... the horrors were so bad that nearly half of the native indians disappeared and the US knew about it. The US government trained those future leaders in its training camp in Panama. A camp that taught all the horrible and nasty ways to bring fear to the local population. 3) The Government of America supports a nation to do the wishes of the Big Business in America. And when its not need anymore, turns around and calls those people who run those nations, monsters or terrorists. Iraq....supported them so they would attack the Iranians even as it was poisoning its own people. Then the US gave it the OK for Iraq to attack Kuwait, so the Americans could have a rallying cry to turn on the Iraq government and Saddaam Hussein. I think he is a monster myself, but the world finds the Americans to be extremely too-faced. 4) Lastly, where I am as much to blame being a huge consumer of our worldly resources. The US backed out of its promise to help fight the effects of global warming so Big Business in the US and Canada could continue to reap in the huge profits. People think that the worst that could happen is that it will get a bit warmer and the sea will rise when the icecaps melt. I think it's actually a great mistake to label this atrocious act as an act of war - to many who fought in wars in the 20th century, war although savage had rules and boundaries which kept the worst excesses of brutality away from "innocent civilians". Notable exceptions such as the Balkans tragedies have been labeled "ethnic cleansing" which is a nice way of saying genocide. I would prefer to classify the barbaric acts against innocent Americans in the category of lowest of the low - genocide, since it was apparently motivated by religious fanaticism backed by a racist agenda. It's too disgusting an act to glorify as an act of war - it's just plain criminally obscene. Let these savages survive completely isolated for a generation without any of the apparatus of the 21st century provided by foreign aid, money and technology, and then re-establish contact & see how they're getting on. | 194 I am 100% with you on this one. I too served in the U.S.Army during Viet Nam (1970) while not in country I was serving and continue to serve in the New Jersey National Guard to this day. I could be activated at any time now. However I agree that the only reponse is to hit them and hit them hard, so hard that they reel from the impact and realize you don't fuck with the U.S. like they did and get away with it. Those S.O.B. 's fight real brave against civilians but in Kuwait and Iraq they couldn't thow down their weapons and raise their hands fast enough. I send my condolences to those who lost loved ones and especially to those on the aircraft that went down near Pittsburg. Those people who interviened and brought that plane down before the terrorists could accomplish their evil deed should be declared true heros. It took real courage to sacrifice their lives to save other unsuspecting innocents on the ground. The live saved could only be speculated but it would have been substantial. The ones left behind should find comfort in the knowledge that they died like Americans and showed what true courage is all about. Hate will make us do things that we normally would not even consider, yet most of us continue to hate something or someone in our lives. Hate for the United States is what has brought idiots like bin Laden to finance and orchestrate mass killings of innocent people. Hate drives mother-in-laws to doing anything they can to destroy son-in-laws... even if that means hurting their own daughter(s) and grand daughter(s). Hate is what takes many of us from being good people, to being psychopaths and madmen (or women). So where does hate come from? Is it a natural human trait or is it taught to us by the people around us. Is hate an evil that we all have to battle at times or is it just a part of our genetics. Is hate positive or productive in any way? Can hate really get us what we think we need in our lives. Does hate make us feel better or does it destroy us? I have found hate to be the rout of all evil in my life. Hate for anything is not good. Hate is an evil that is so powerful that it can take over even the strongest of human beings and make them into a monster. A monster that is capable of doing horrific damage to one or many. Hate has no boundaries and it has no end to the damage it can cause. Hate is evil and hate will destroy all who allow it to be a driving force in their lives. Hate will not win wars.
